What Shall Come to Pass — 2019

What Shall Come to Pass — 2019

For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.
— T.S. Eliot

Welcome, 2019. You began with an air of pure loveliness, and I have the most wonderful feeling about you. This shall be a year of focus and discipline, exploration and discovery, creativity and mindfulness. I have no resolutions, nor vows nor any opportunities to chastise myself. I’m only predicting what shall come to pass in these next twelve months. Be kind and have courage as we develop an entirely new language for ourselves.

  1. Yoga

Focus on learning different flows, the names of poses, and how they’re beneficial for the body and mind

  2. Autobiographies

Focus on what makes those I admire great, what decisions led to their history and accomplishments, how they used failures and achievement to motivate them. Noteworthy — Roald Dahl, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Laura Ingalls Wilder

  3. Baking

Focus on recipes I’ve never tried, particularly bread, and figure out why they rise, how components and measurements affect things, and how to constantly improve upon them

  4. Publication

Focus on 3-5 published pieces, paid or unpaid, and on publishing Anubis Lost at last

  5. Silk

Focus on health, be it physical, nourishing skin, my spirit, and mind. Once I feel strong and my body feels fully my own once more, I’ll buy myself a pair of lovely silk pyjamas and a gauzy, fancy robe with feather-trim and silk ribbons

  6. Adventure

Focus on little excursions each week, taking turns down new streets, and perhaps taking a few quick weekends away to places I’ve never been

  7. French

Focus on fluency and community, French films, food, literature, and building it back into my life

  8. Memorization

Focus on memorizing great quotes, passages of literature and plays, scripture

  9. TBR

Focus on reading through my to be read list and all existing books in my current collection

  10. Portfolio & Presence

Focus on pressing in to my portfolio while expanding my presence through thedailymagpie and social media, along with building an in-person creative community where I now live
